A24 release first trailer for acclaimed romantic drama Pillion

A24 has revealed the first look at Pillion, writer-director Harry Lighton‘s kinky and playful adaptation of Adam Mars-Jones’s 2020 novel, Box Hill.

The film is released this November, sketching a memorable on-screen romance between Harry Melling (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs) and Alexander Skarsgard (The Northman). Melling plays Colin, a repressed and lonely individual who begins a relationship with Skarsgard’s strapping, leather-clad bike gang leader, Ray.

Before long, Colin is introduced to the realities of a BDSM relationship, and discovers new facets of his once-tentative personality. Lighton’s directorial debut has met with critical acclaim following its debut at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival and it soon be playing at the 2025 London Film Festival.

The Guardian‘s Peter Bradshaw describes it as ‘a cross between Alan Bennett and Tom of Finland with perhaps a tiny smidgen of what could be called a BDSM Wallace and Gromit‘.
