Watch The Atmospheric Netflix Cursed Trailer

Some people don’t like playing around with mythology, personally I get intrigued. Next month Netflix will alter that King Arthur mythology for their upcoming horror fantasy Cursed.

13 Reasons Why/Knives Out star Katherine Langford is in the lead role. The twist, what if the Lady Of Lake chose Excalibur? Her name is Nimue tortured by the gifts she possess including a mysterious sword on a dangerous quest to find Merlin.

The series is based on a graphic novel by Tom Wheeler and Frank Millar, who is no stranger to revisionist stories. 300, Sin City and various Batman stories including The Dark Knight Trilogy.

Netflix have released the Official Trailer which doesn’t reveal too much. What it does does do, teases the atmosphere and tone of the series. It’s darker and gritty most all will be very ‘different’.

We’ve also included a few new images which showcase more of the cast…

Based on the New York Times bestselling book, Cursed is a re-imagination of the Arthurian legend, told through the eyes of Nimue, a young woman with a mysterious gift who is destined to become the powerful (and tragic) Lady of the Lake. After her mother’s death, she finds an unexpected partner in Arthur, a humble mercenary, in a quest to find Merlin and deliver an ancient sword. Over the course of her journey, Nimue will become a symbol of courage and rebellion against the terrifying Red Paladins, and their complicit King Uther. Cursed is a coming-of-age story whose themes are familiar to our own time: the obliteration of the natural world, religious terror, senseless war, and finding the courage to lead in the face of the impossible.

The series will star Katherine Langford (Nimue), Devon Terrell (Arthur), Gustaf Skarsgård (Merlin), Daniel Sharman (Weeping Monk), Sebastian Armesto (King Uther Pendragon), Matt Stokoe (Gawain), Lily Newmark (Pym), Shalom Brune-Franklin (Igraine), Emily Coates (Sister Iris), Billy Jenkins (Squirrel), Bella Dayne (Red Spear), Peter Mullan (Father Carden).

Netflix will release All episodes of Cursed  globally from 17th July.
