‘Who do you think you’re kidding Mr Hitler?’ Our boys sorry old chaps, that’s Dad’s Army is coming to a cinema near you.Today we have a look at the film’s first poster Walmington-on-Sea’s finest are on hand what ever you do Don’t tell ’em your names!the much-loved iconic British comedy, will be released in cinemas in 2016.
It is 1944 and World War II is reaching its climax. The Allies are poised to invade France and finally defeat the German army. But in Walmington-on-Sea morale amongst the Home Guard is low. Their new mission then – to patrol the Dover army base – is a great chance to revive spirits and reputation, that is until glamorous journalist Rose Winters arrives to write about their exploits, setting the pulses racing and putting the local women on red alert. MI5 then discover a radio signal sent direct to Berlin from Walmington-on-Sea. There’s a spy on the loose! The outcome of the war is suddenly at stake, and it falls to our unlikely heroes to stand up and be counted.
The poster certainly a homage to the original BBC TV Series which stopped filming in 1977. Toby Jones who plays the iconic Captain Mainwaring said making the film was “really nerve-wracking” whilst trying to balance the catchphrases, spirit of the original show. We’d love to know if this is a film fans of the tv show are keen to see? Should they have laid the ghost to rest or are you a keen to see Dad’s Army but never watched an episode?
