When I think about Matthew Broderick I just cant stop thinking about Project X, War Games the movies I watched and adored in my childhood in the 1980’s. We move on a few decades and things have to have went a little downhill for him, a lot of crap movies Godzilla, Stanford Wives to name 2, but Wonderful World he seems to have gained a little of his creditbility back.

In this sometimes moving dark comedy, Broderick plays Ben-a failed children’s folk singer and less-than-extraordinary weekend dad. Deeply cynical, Ben’s sole pleasure in life is derived from chess games with his Senegalese roommate Ibou. When Ibou is suddenly struck ill and an insensitive municipal employee exacerbates the emergency situation, Ben’s pessimistic worldview seems unequivocally confirmed. But when Ibou’s sister Khadi takes his place in their apartment, what starts as an awkward living arrangement becomes something more, and Ben finds that cynicism may be all a matter of perspective. – imdb

We all know Mathew Broderick can play alot of good parts and its time for him to step out of the Ferris Bullers Day Off light and start making decent movies once again. Wonderful Man out out in UK and Ireland in early 2010.
