It’s eight years since Chinese filmmaker Wong Kar Wai has release a film, The Grandmaster in 2013. We all know how much his films are loved not just in his own country but globally. The coming Friday 12th February will be the start of the Chinese new year, The year of the Ox, a lunar new year. The filmmaker has been recruited by Mercedes Benz for the upcoming celebrations.
The film lasts six and half minutes long, which says is ‘curated’ by Kar Wai. It has all the beloved filmmakers trademarks, the gorgeous visual palette, rainy weather, slow motion love, joy and emotions. Unless you can speak Mandarin, unfortunately there is no subtitles that doesn’t mean you cant admire the short. You can see pick up we see families, older couples, young star crossed lovers all brining in the new year joyful and happy or even in tears. Off course this is created for a car firm so those lives will be based around Mercedes Benz latest models.
