Watch The UK Trailer For Raoul Peck’s ORWELL: 2+2=5

A group of people sit together in unison

Altitude Films have dropped the official UK Trailer for Raoul Pecks ORWELL 2+2=5.

Narrated by Damian Lewis, the documentary was inspired by Peck‘s fascination with English writer George Orwell and takes a fascinating, in-depth look at how he envisaged society, both here and abroad, would develop. The accuracy of what he anticipated – some of which has already happened – is uncanny to the point of disturbing.

The director has drawn on extensive archive material, including historical clips and contemporary footage, to carefully craft a portrait of Orwell himself, as well as presenting him as one of the most visionary of modern writers, somebody from the past who is equally relevant today – and tomorrow.

Synopsis | George Orwell was one of the most visionary authors of the 20th Century, whose novels 1984 and Animal Farm foretold a chilling, all-to-believable authoritarian future. Acclaimed director Raoul Peck (Academy Award-nominated I Am Not Your Negro), working in collaboration with the Orwell Estate, seamlessly interweaves historical clips, readings from Orwell’s diary, cinematic references, and dynamic modern day footage to craft not only a definitive portrait of the writer himself, but an entirely fresh take on how remarkably relevant and prophetic his work has become. Peck doesn’t just present the information but shows new ways of seeing it, drawing patterns and connections we might not otherwise realize, championing Orwell as a man from the past who just might hold the key to the world’s future.

ORWELL 2+2=5 will get a UK and Irish cinema release on March 27th. The film also receives its Scottish premiere at Glasgow Film Festival on March 2nd [ more info/ book].
