‘See how He became He-Man’ in new Masters of the Universe Teaser Trailer
Hollywood’s love affair with reboots shows no chance of slowing, and the latest franchise stepping back into the spotlight is Masters of the Universe. After years of being in development limbo the long awaited 2026 adaptation starring Nicholas Galitzine has unveiled its first trailer.
Though rooted in fantasy, the trailer begins in the very ordinary world of corporate America, introducing Adam Glenn (Prince Adam/He-Man) as a man who shows a fascination in all things fantasy, but most of all, his mysterious sword. When someone finally tracks it down, he at last gets the chance to begin his own adventure.
From there, the film shifts into full fantasy mode offering us our first look at the visual spectacle of Eternia. Sweeping landscapes, dynamic battle sequences and a far more visually imposing He-Man showcase Adam’s transformation from an average American office worker into the most powerful man in the universe.
Alongside Galitzine, the film boasts a stacked supporting cast including Idris Elba, Camilla Mendes, Jared Leto, Alison Brie, James Purefoy, Morena Baccarin, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Charlotte Riley and Kristen Wiig as the voice of “Roberto”.
After years of false starts, this trailer hints that the reboot may be the first to understand how to translate the franchise for modern audiences. With blockbuster visuals and a stellar cast, this may be the adaptation that does justice to Eternia on the big screen.
Synopsis | Director Travis Knight brings the legendary franchise back to the big screen with the epic sci-fi adventure based on the 1980’s Mattel toy line. After being separated for 15 years, the Sword of Power leads Prince Adam (Nicholas Galitzine) back to Eternia where he discovers his home shattered under the fiendish rule of Skeletor (Jared Leto). To save his family and his world, Adam must join forces with his closest allies Teela (Camilla Mendes) and Duncan/Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba), and embrace his true destiny as He-Man – the most powerful man in the universe.
Masters of the Universe is set to hit UK cinemas on the June 5th.
