Todd HaynesCarol reinvigorated the filmmaker’s career, even gave him the step up from a small indie director to a leading one. Next month his next film, Wonderstruck will arrive in the UK and Irish cinemas and Studiocanal has released the UK Trailer.

An enchanting tale that celebrates the power of imagination. A story of two kids from different generations who wish their lives were completely different…

Millicent Simmonds and Oakes Fegley play the kids in question, who both have received critical praise ever since the film’s World Premiere at last year’s Cannes Film Festival. Both rightly deserve the praise, the film gives us a window into their sense of adventure, innocence, and discovery.

We caught the film at its last film festival stop at last month’s Glasgow Film Festival. It’s essentially Haynes most accessible film to date. If you weren’t onboard with Haynes Arthouse sensibilities, Wonderstruck is more grounded. It is a Kid’s film that shares a similar tone to Martin Scorsese’s Hugo.Ironically written by Brian Selznick the author (and writer) of Wonderstruck!

From visionary, BAFTA-winning director of Far From Heaven and Carol Todd Haynes and screenwriter Brian Selznick (Hugo), comes this heartwarming tale of imagination, wonder, and finding your place in the world in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

Based on Brian Selznick’s critically acclaimed novel, WONDERSTRUCK tells the story of Ben and Rose – children from two different eras, who secretly wish their lives were different. Ben longs for the father he has never known, while Rose dreams of a mysterious actress whose life she chronicles in a scrapbook. When Ben discovers a puzzling clue in his home and Rose reads an enticing headline in the newspaper, both children set out on quests to find what they are missing that unfold with mesmerizing symmetry.

The film also stars Michelle Williams, Julianne Moore, and Jaden Michael.

Wonderstruck will arrive in UK and Irish Cinemas from 6th April.
