Secrets run deep as Entertainment One release the dramatic UK Trailer for Stillwater starring Matt Damon. A father determined to exonerate his estranged daughter locked up in a French prison.
The film comes from the Oscar winning director Tom McCarthy (Spotlight, Win Win) and Damon in a role that some of those Jason Bourne skills would come in handy for. The film will be arriving in cinemas with no festival screenings , could it be another award potential for McCarthy? This films looks like it has a few twists, turns and secrets that could come to the surface like Spotlight. Is this film inspired in any way with Amanda Knox story?
Damon plays roughneck Oilriger Bill who must travel to Marseille in southern France. Where his estranged daughter (played by Abigail Breslin) is in prison for a murder she insists she did not commit. He attempts to defeat the language barriers and new legal system to exonerate his daughter.
This is looks dramatic, very intense and teases not to take everything by face value.

Stillwater will be released in the UK and Iris cinemas from 6th August.
