Watch The Bone Chilling Trailer For Relic Starring Emily Mortimer
There’s just a sweet connection with the horror genre and Sundance Film Festival. So many fantastic horrors have arrived via the film festival, the latest us the bone chilling Relic . Natalie Erika James directorial feature debut has been picked up by IFC Films Stateside and today we have the film’s trailer.
Starring Emily Mortimer as Kay, the daughter of Edna (Robyn Nevin), an elderly and widowed matriarch who goes missing. Kay and her daughter Sam (Bella Heathcote) who must travel to their remote family home to find her only to return to Edna’s house discovering a evil presence haunting the house. Controlling Edna too?
The film grabbed some great reviews at it’s world premiere. Many commenting on it’s creepiness and depiction of dementia. A slow burner of a film that lets the tension seep in and take hold of you. Sign me up for this one!
When elderly mother Edna (Robyn Nevin) inexplicably vanishes, her daughter Kay (Emily Mortimer) and granddaughter Sam (Bella Heathcote) rush to their family’s decaying country home, finding clues of her increasing dementia scattered around the house in her absence. After Edna returns just as mysteriously as she disappeared, Kay’s concern that her mother seems unwilling or unable to say where she’s been clashes with Sam’s unabashed enthusiasm to have her grandma back. As Edna’s behavior turns increasingly volatile, both begin to sense that an insidious presence in the house might be taking control of her. With RELIC, first-time writer/director Natalie Erika James crafts an unforgettable new spin on the haunted-house movie.
Relic will get a limited U.S.A cinematic release next to a Digital HD/VOD release on 10th July. If everything goes well could this one be heading to Frightfest? UK distributor and release date still to be announced.
