Searchlight Pictures have released the official main UK Trailer for Mona Fastvold‘s The Testament Of Ann Lee, so put your trust in Mother Ann and watch this bold new promo!

Amanda Seyfried is currently in cinemas in box office hit The Housemaid, which is already scheduled for a sequel, and she’s getting just as much attention for her performance in The Testament Of Anne Lee. She’s seen as a strong contender for awards, and that includes the Oscars. And the film itself is a musical, but in a unique way that’s miles away from the Hollywood tradition.

The Testament Of Ann Leeย follows the woman who would create The Shaker movement from her early days in Manchester to moving to the U.S. Believing she was the ‘female Christ’, she wanted to build a utopian society and also preached ideas that are unexpectedly relevant today.

This one also stars Thomasin McKenzie, Lewis Pullman, Tim Blake Nelson, Christopher Abbott, Stacy Martin, Matthew Beard, Scott Handy, Viola Prettejohn, Jamie Bogyo andย David Cale.

Synopsis | From award-winning writer-director Mona Fastvold (The World to Come, The Brutalist) comes the extraordinary true legend of Ann Lee, founder of the devotional sect known as the Shakers. Academy Award nominee Amanda Seyfried stars as the Shaker’s irrepressible leader, who preached gender and social equality and was revered by her followers. The Testament of Ann Lee captures the ecstasy and torment of her quest to build a utopia, featuring more than a dozen traditional Shaker hymns reimagined as rapturous movements with choreography by Celia Rowlson-Hall (Vox Lux) and original songs & score by Academy Award winner Daniel Blumberg (The Brutalist).
