The big question the series will ask, December 9th, 2001, when Kathleen Peterson was found dead at the bottom of a staircase. Did he do it? Did crime novelist Michael Peterson kill his wife? 17 years on true crime fans still obsess over that burning question.

This series may sound very familiar to some people, as a version of the series has been released before. Jean-Xavier de Lestrade released it in France in 2004 with BBC Four picking it up in 2005.

So why did Netflix pick it up? Since then there have been lots of developments, twists, and turns. In 2011 the State admitted to providing misleading evidence which leads to Peterson been released. Today he’s not completely free as he’s still under house arrest.

On top of the original ten episodes, we now have 3 Netflix Originals episodes that bring everything to update. It’s a fascinating story which fans of Netflix’s other true crime show Making A Murderer will love to bits…

The Staircase will be launching Globally on Netflix on 8th June.
