The Venice International Film Festival is currently running in Italy and the film has released a English subtitled Trailer. The film is the directorial debut for Wang with Jia Zhangke producing whom Wang has been assistant director for a long time.
The film is set in Beijing , China 2003 before the internet boom with newspapers the source for daily news. Inspired by the true events of the SARS Pandemic , we follow an intern whom aspires to be a journalist. Set during the country’s post SARS Pandemic who discovers medical fraud. Publishing the story would win him that dream position but repercussions for millions.

The internet is in its infancy and newspapers are still king. 26-year-old middle school dropout Han Dong (Bai-Ke) dreams of being a journalist, and lucks into an internship at one of Beijingโs most powerful dailies. After earning the respect of his editor with plucky reporting on a disaster at a local mine, he throws himself into another explosive investigation, this time, into the high stakes world of medical fraud. Han Dong knows the story is of national significance and could land him a front-page byline and a permanent job with the paper. However, as publication draws near, Han Dong is forced to confront the cost his storyโs success may have on millions of citizens, and on those whom he holds most dear. Inspired by true events.
The film stars Bai-Ke, Miao Miao, Songwen Zhang, and Yang Song.
The Best Is Yet To Come is premiering at Venice Film Festival shortly. There is no information on who will distribute the film and when the film will be released in the UK as well as USA.
