Watch Hirokazu Kore-eda’s Korean Drama Broker UK Trailer

Broker out in UK Cinemas 24th February

Japanese filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda‘s travels around world cinema next month will take us to South Korea. Picturehouse Entertainment will bring us that film, today they give us the delightful UK Trailer for Broker.

Like virtually all of his films this one made it’s world premiere at last year’s Cannes Film Festival. Throughout 2022 toured many other festivals collecting some great buzz. Now it’s time for it’s UK cinematic release and if you enjoyed Little Miss Sunshine, this might be a treat for you.

The film stars Song Kang-ho (Parasite) and Donna Bae (Cloud Atlas, Host). It’s also Kore-eda’s first Korean language film, his last film The Truth was his first French/English language film.

This film centres around 2 brokers who collect babies left in ‘baby boxes’. From parent (s) who sadly can’t afford to provide for them. The ‘brokers’ will (illegally) find new parents.

On a rainy night in Busan, So-young (Lee โ€˜IUโ€™ Ji-eun) leaves her baby Woo-sung outside a โ€˜baby boxโ€™, a safe place set up in Korean churches for new mothers to leave unwanted infants. Instead, heโ€™s picked up by Sang-hyun (Parasiteโ€™s Song Kang-ho) who runs an unofficial adoption brokerage and plans to find him a new home.

So-young tracks down both Sang-hyun and his business partner Dong-soo (Gang Dong-won) and decides to join their pursuit (alongside a seven-year-old stowaway from a nearby orphanage), but as they search for Woo-sungโ€™s new family, the unlikely group evolves into something of a family themselves โ€“ unaware theyโ€™re being tailed by two detectives (Bae Doona, Lee Joo-young) who are determined to stop them.

Heartwarming, funny and moving, BROKER is the outstanding new film from Hirokazu Kore-eda, the acclaimed director of Shoplifters.

The film also stars Gang Dong-Won, Bae Doona, IU, and Lee Joo-Young. Broker will be in UK and Irish cinemas from 24th February.
