Watch ‘Dark Rising’ Trailer For African Based Superhero TV Show (exclusive)

‘Dark Rising’ is a new superhero TV series in development for 2019, currently in negotiation with a major network (it has not yet been officially announced). The series creators are British-Asian filmmaker Souvid Datta and producer Chris Bouchard (The Little Mermaid 2018).

Yesterday at MCM London Comic-Con (27th May), Trailer was revealed to attendees and today we get an exclusive look at the  ‘Dark Rising’ Trailer and New Artwork.

The series is described as City of God meets Black Panther, via Heroes, and tells the story of troubled youths discovering formidable powers, spanning East African slums to neglected communities around the world. It aims to push the superhero genre into grittier, more nuanced territory, championing originality and international diversity.

As we know nowadays the superhero genre is not solely based on the U.S. Marvel Cinematic Universe films like Black Panther proved that theory. This show looks to ground the sub-genre that may remind us a little of Chronicle. Dark, atmospheric.

This is a UK created TV show which hopes to have a world appeal. We don’t know too much about the potential cast. If it will include any established actors or be one of the unknowns, giving them their break into the history.
