A Prayer Before Dawn is the remarkable true story of Billy Moore, a young English boxer incarcerated for three years in two of Thailand’s most notorious prisons. He is quickly thrown into a world of drugs and gang violence, but when the prison authorities allow him to take part in the Muay Thai boxing tournaments, Billy realises that this is his only hope for survival, taking him on an incredible journey to redemption.
We’ve recently watched Joe Cole play the younger brother John Sheldon of Cillian Murphy’s character on Peaky Blinders. More recently starring in Black Mirror Season 4 ‘Hang The DJ’. After several years working through Television, this film will the young actor breakthrough to bigger and better things. A24 are releasing the film Stateside and when it comes to successful independent films, the film is at the perfect distributor. Under The Skin, The VVitch, Moonlight is proof, it’s not just the films. Critics have praised Cole and the supporting cast which was made up of real-life inmates.
A Prayer Before Dawn will be released in the UK and Ireland from 20th July. The film also stars Nicolas Shake, Vithaya Pansringarm (Only God Forgives) with Johnny Mad Dog director Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire.
