Vicky Krieps & George MacKay Join Ocean’s Eleven Prequel
Vicky Krieps, George MacKay, Omar Sy, Lauren Ridloff, and Jack Holden have been cast in the upcoming Oceanโs Eleven prequel at Warner Bros.
The film follows Danny Oceanโs parents, the two masterminds who taught him all that he now knows, as they pull off a daring heist during the 1962 Formula One Monaco Grand Prix. The film is set to be directed and co-written by Bradley Cooper, with Carrie Solomon also helping to pen the film. Cooper will also star in the film as the father of Danny Ocean, with Margot Robbie presumably playing the role of his mother. Aside from the newest additions, the film also stars Monica Barbaro, Josh Gad, and recent Oscar nominee Wagner Moura.ย
Whilst Cooper is most well-known for his acting roles in the MCU, as well as The Hangover trilogy, he has accumulated a fair reputation behind the camera, with this film being his fourth feature after A Star is Born, Maestro, and most recently, the Laura Dern and Will Arnett-starring Is This Thing On?.ย
As a franchise, the Oceanโs films began with the Steven Soderbergh trilogy as Oceanโs Eleven took the heist genre by storm in 2001. He then followed them up with Oceanโs Twelve in 2004 and Oceanโs Thirteen in 2007.
The films each centre around a different heist set across the world and include big names such as George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Andy Garcia, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, Casey Affleck, Elliot Gould and Don Cheadle doing the worst Cockney accent youโve ever heard.ย
In 2018, we got the first non-Soderbergh entry into the franchise with the all-female Oceanโs Eight. The film followed a heist during New Yorkโs annual Met Gala. It starred Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkafina, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter and Richard Armitage.
The untitled Oceanโs prequel is set to hit cinemas on 25th June 2027.
