UK’s Elysian Film Group Distribution Is Being Liquidated

The Boy And The Heron

UK’s Elysian Film Group Distribution, which launched in 2020, has entered the insolvency process.

Danny Perkins, the former head of Studiocanal UK, leads the distribution segment of the Elysian Film Group. They have acquired titles such as the Studio Ghibli film The Boy and the Heron, a film massively popular amongst many anime fans, as well as Earwig And The Witch

Elysian also produced and distributed the 2023 film Greatest Days, which followed Take That music, but the film didn’t do well at the box office. Back when the distribution segment of the 2018-founded company didn’t exist, Elysian produced films such as The Magic Faraway Tree and Fackham Hall.

When he was at Studiocanal UK, Perkins oversaw UK releases such as Paddington 1 and 2, Legend and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. He told Deadline, “Elysian Film Group Distribution Ltd is no longer trading and is subject to a formal insolvency process.”

He added, “The production company continues to operate independently and remains active. We do not intend to comment further on the insolvency process or matters relating to creditors.” The main production company, however, will continue to trade, but its distribution arm has stopped.

As reported by Screen Daily, according to their most recent filing with Companies House, as of March 31, 2025, they had a negative net worth of £341,130. Although in 2024, they had a positive net worth of £10,004.
