Official UK Trailer & Poster For Studio Ghibli’s ARRIETTY(update)

LOVEFILM have released the UK Trailer for Studio Ghibli’s ARRIETTY (Kari-gurashi no Arietti ) which is due for an cinematic release in UK& Ireland on July 29th released by Optimum Releasing . In times when parents worry about what they can let their young children watch, without the fear that some content is just a little too graphic for there young eyes, Studio Ghibli is a guaranteed 100% family friendly. It’s an exciting affair when a new Ghibli project arises, as you know you are getting a magical ride into a fantastic fictional world; that will be enjoyed not just by the children but their parents too. Studio Ghibli are the true ambassadors of Japanese animation worldwide, with Disney being probably their biggest fans. Arrietty is based on the classic Mary Norton Childrens book, The Borrowers; the story of the tiny family no bigger than a mouse, who live hidden in a normal human’s home, living off things they borrow during the night.

It’s a wonderful story, which has been directed by Ghibli’s youngest director Hiromasa Yonebayashi(36 years), with the screen play written by the master Hayao Miyazaki. It seems there’s 2 dubbed versions in English for Arrietty, which is unusual for the story; but being a story originated in UK you can see why. In the UK version, Arrietty is voiced by Hanna actress Saorise Ronan with Mark Strong, Olivia Coleman and Tom Holland. For the American version, we have Bridgit Mendler, Will Arnett, Amy Poehler and Carol Burnett with the American release not until February 2012, released by Disney.

*update – July 4th  A big thank you to Optimum Releasing who have now sent us the official trailer as well as official synopsis and a few nice images from the Film*

This is a story of a family of “little” people. Beneath the floorboards of a sprawling mansion set in a magical, overgrown garden in the suburbs of Tokyo, tiny 14-year-old Arrietty lives with her equally tiny parents. The house is occupied by two old ladies, who are absolutely unaware of the existence of their miniature tenants.

Arrietty and her family live by “borrowing”. Everything they have, they borrowor make from the things they have borrowed. Essentials like cooking gas, water and food. Tables, chairs, cooking utensils. And treats – a sugar cube here, a scrap of material there. But only a little each time, so the ladies do not notice.

A 12-year-old boy, Sho, moves in the mansion while he waits for urgent medical treatment in the city. Arrietty’s parents have always warned her: “Never let humans see you.” Once seen, little people always have to move on. But the adventurous Arrietty doesn’t listen, and Sho discovers her. The two begin to confide in each other and, before long, a friendship begins to blossom…

English speaking voice cast: Saoirse Ronan, Tom Holland, Mark Strong, Olivia Colman, Phyllida Law, and Geraldine McEwan.
