Tom Cruise To Return In Days Of Thunder 2
Jonathan Levine is in talks to step into Tony Scott's directional shoes.
Tom Cruise is set to return to the world of motorsport for a Days of Thunder sequel from Paramount.
The plot for this sequel is being kept under wraps for the moment, but it will be directed by Jonathan Levine, who is most well known for his films Warm Bodies, 50/50, and Long Shot. At the end of the year, his newest film, Mr Irrelevant: The John Tuggle Story, will hit cinemas. It follows the true story of John Tuggle, who was given that title after being picked last in the 1983 NFL Draft.ย
It will be penned by Will Staples, who has written video games such as Call of Duty 3: Modern Warfare, and has also co-written the Michael B. Jordan-starring action movie, Without Remorse.

Released in 1990, the first film followed Cruiseโs character Cole Trickle, a young hotshot who catches a break in the world of stock car racing, as fierce rivalries begin to surface once he gets behind the wheel. The film also starred the late Robert Duvall as well as Nicole Kidman, Randy Quaid, Cary Elwes, Michael Rooker, and John C. Reilly.
The original film was directed by the one-of-a-kind Tony Scott, who sadly passed away in 2012. He was most well known for directing the first Top Gun film, as well as being a frequent collaborator with Denzel Washington in smash hits like Man on Fire, Deja Vu, and Unstoppable.
