Carnival Films’ and Julian Fellowes’s hit drama returns for a star-studded third series. Follow Britain’s beloved aristocracy as they move into the 1920s, when DOWNTON ABBEY SERIES THREE comes to Blu-Ray and DVD on 5 November, courtesy of Universal Pictures.
This third instalment of the Golden Globe and six time Emmy® award-winning series sees the return of all the much-loved characters in the sumptuous setting of Downton Abbey. As they face new challenges in the 1920s, the Crawley family and servants who work for them, remain inseparably interlinked – their lives rendered even more complicated by a turbulent wartime. Now the storms of war have finally cleared, will the way of life known by all the inhabitants of the great house have changed forever?
DOWNTON ABBEY SERIES THREE sees the arrival of new characters, including Shirley MacLaine (Terms of Endearment and The Apartment) as Cora’s mother, Martha Levinson, Matthew Milne (War Horse) as new footman Alfred, newcomer Cara Theobald as kitchen maid Ivy and Ed Speleers (Eragon) as footman Jimmy.
Throughout the great house these new arrivals rattle the established hierarchies, and the lives of the inhabitants are as shaped by romance, ambition, desire, shocks and heartbreak as ever. The secure, serene and ordered world of Downton is rocked by passions below the surface and there are changes above and below stairs.
All our favourite characters return to Downton Abbey, including Maggie Smith as Dowager Countess of Grantham, Hugh Bonneville as Earl of Grantham, Elizabeth McGovern as Countess of Grantham, Jim Carter as Carson, Michelle Dockery as Lady Mary Crawley, Jessica Brown Findlay as Lady Sybil, Brendan Coyle as John Bates, Joanne Froggatt as Anna Smith, Phyllis Logan as Mrs Hughes, Sophie McShera as Daisy Mason, Laura Carmichael as Lady Edith and Dan Stevens as Matthew Crawley.
This Sunday on ITV 1 9pm you can watch the new series on television after X-Factor then make it perfect addition to any Christmas stocking; DOWNTON ABBEY SERIES THREE makes its home entertainment debut, on Blu-Ray and DVD from 5 November 2012.
