American Star coming to UK February

Ian McShane is no stranger in the Assassin World with the John Wick franchise as Winston. Next month in American Star will be released and he’ll be the Assassin this time. In the film’s Official UK Trailer things get personal for him, where is his target?

American Star name comes from the actual ship that’s shipwrecked on the north side of Fuerteventura. Ironically the film is based on the Canary Island and is directed by Spanish filmmaker Gonzalo López-Gallego (Apollo 18, The Hollow Point).

McShane plays the ageing assassin who heads to Fuerteventura for one last job. He keeps a low profile but when a stranger comes to town it’s pretty obvious missing the target who returns. The assassin is coming fond of his temporary abode, the target returns changing everything.

Ian McShane has worked with López-Gallego before on Neo Western Hollow Point (2016). Outside his Winston Scott character, many older cinephiles will know the British actor from BBC drama Lovejoy. Since he’s move to Stateside we do love his cinematic work and this might be a solid turn.

An assassin on final assignment arrives in Fuerteventura to kill a man he has never met. But the target is delayed. Instead of following protocol he stays, drawn to the island, the people, and a ghostly shipwreck. When the target returns, the world has shifted. Before everything was simple, now nothing is…

The film also stars Nora Arnezeder, Adam Nagaitis, Fanny Ardant, Oscar Coleman, Andres Gertrudix, and Thomas Kretschmann. American Star will get a limited UK and Irish cinema release date from 23rd February. It will also be available from all Digital Platforms on the same day.
