Things Get Heated In First Trailer For New Comedy The Roses
The first trailer for the brand-new comedy The Roses has arrived featuring a star-studded cast and plenty of jaded quips. Directed by Jay Roach (Austin Powers, Meet The Parents), the movie looks to reimagine the 1989 classic film The War of the Roses, based on the novel by Warren Adler, with the screenplay provided by Academy Award nominee Tony McNamara (Poor Things).
The synopsis for the movie is as follows: Life seems easy for picture-perfect couple Ivy and Theo: successful careers, a loving marriage, great kids. But beneath the faรงade of their supposed ideal life, a storm is brewing โ as Theoโs career nosedives while Ivyโs own ambitions take off, a tinderbox of fierce competition and hidden resentment ignites.ย ย
The Roses features a stacked cast, led by Olivia Colmanย and Benedict Cumberbatch, which includes the likes of Andy Samberg, Allison Janney, Belinda Bromilow, Sunita Mani, Ncuti Gatwa, Jamie Demetriou, Zoรซ Chao, and Kate McKinnon.
This will mark Roach’s first movie since 2019’s Bombshell. Considering his hilarious filmography as well as a talented cast of comedic actors, this looks to be a playful and hilarious time for audiences.
The Roses will be released in UK and Ireland cinemas from 1st September.
