Last Night The American MTV Music Video Awards aired on (USA)TV and its usually an excuse for  a night when celebs from Music, tv and film celebs (many you probably haven’t seen for years) come together to drink dry the free bar on offer in a very predictable awards ceremony. But what makes these ceremonies exciting its always a chance to get a sneak peek at some unseen  footage at upcoming films and last night Lionsgate revealed the first teaser trailer for The Hunger Games!
When we say Teaser trailer it is a bit if an understatement, yes it is promo footage but only the usual narrative background with our heroine Jennifer Lawrence (who introduces the the footage first) showing off her silky crossbow skills but that about it. Some of you maybe disappointed that there not much of footage  but the movie is still filming getting ready for its March 23rd 2012 release date, so do expect something more solid to arrive in the coming months, this ‘trailer’ will please fans of the book.
You’ll notice we have 2 trailers below and there’s a reason behind the madness. Despite the awards been last night MTV who want the world to enjoy this footage have decided the footage is for American eyes only which is a big 2 fingers to the rest of the world, though hopefully that may change soon as the awards will be aired on MTV UK tonight (9pm). Thankfully Totalfilm have came to the rescue and found the footage and we now all can enjoy! There is an difference of 15 seconds we dont think we’ve missed any big revelations however if your able to watch the American trailer let us know what we’ve missed leaving your comments below.
****UPDATE 30/08/11 – Lionsgate UK have sent us the official teaser trailer along with the official synopsis which you can read below. The Hunger Games also stars film also stars Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, and Donald Sutherland with Gary Ross (Sea Biscuit) directing.
In a not-too-distant future, the United States of America has collapsed, weakened by drought, fire, famine, and war, to be replaced by Panem, a country divided into the Capitol and 12 districts. Each year, two young representatives from each district are selected by lottery to participate in The Hunger Games. Part entertainment, part brutal intimidation of the subjugated districts, the televised games are broadcasted throughout Panem as the 24 participants are forced to eliminate their competitors, literally, with all citizens required to watch. When 16-year-old Katniss’ young sister, Prim, is selected as the mining district’s female representative, Katniss volunteers to take her place. She and her male counterpart, Peeta, the son of the town baker who seems to have all the fighting skills of a lump of bread dough, will be pitted against bigger, stronger representatives who have trained for this their whole lives.
