Dwayne Johnson Is The Smashing Machine In First Trailer For New Benny Safide/A24 Drama
A24 has today released the first trailer for their upcoming drama The Smashing Machine, which you can view below!!
Dwayne Johnson (Red One, Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle) takes on his first big dramatic role as legendary MMA fighter Mark Kerr in this new biopic written and directed by Benny Safdie (Good Time, Uncut Gems). Oscar nominee Emily Blunt co-stars – Johnson’s co-star from Disney’s Jungle Cruise – the wrestling drama hones in on an icon from the no-holds-barred era of the UFC as he struggles with addiction, winning, love, and friendship at the peak of his career, in the year 2000.
Nicknamed “The Smashing Machine” for his aggressive fighting style, Johnson’s Kerr is a collegiate wrestler turned mixed martial artist who hit the height of his fame in the late ’90s and early 2000s. A two-time UFC Heavyweight Tournament Champion, he previously had the highs and lows of his life story dissected in a 2002 HBO documentary, which shares its title with A24’s. (via Deadline)
