The Six Triple Eight Second Teaser ‘Provides Hope’

In dark times, getting a letter means a lot especially if that time is during a war. Netflix today have released another teaser trailer for The Six Triple Eight provides hope.

The Six Tripple Eight is a true story war based drama, set during World War II, the US Army’s only all-Black, all-women battalion takes on an impossible mission. Kerry Washington is Major Charity Adams in charge of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, who delivered that connection between the soliders and their family back home. They also had to fight battles of sexism and racism amongst their own soliders.

Interesting to see how Tyler Perry goes with this one, a war drama instead of the romance or mediocre comedies he’s renowned for. Washington does look very good in this, awards contender?

THE SIX TRIPLE EIGHT is inspired by the first and only Women’s Army Corps unit of colour to serve overseas in WWII. Despite facing racism and sexism – and gruelling working conditions – they were committed to serving their country with honour and distinction. Given an extraordinary mission and united in their determination, these unsung heroes delivered hope and shattered barriers. Written and directed by Tyler Perry, the film stars Kerry Washington as Major Charity Adams, the commanding officer of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion. Produced by Tyler Perry, Nicole Avant, Angi Bones, Tony L. Strickland, Keri Selig and Carlota Espinosa, the film features an ensemble cast including Ebony Obsidian, Milauna Jackson, Kylie Jefferson, Shanice Shantay, Sarah Jeffery, Pepi Sonuga, Moriah Brown, Jeanté Godlock, Susan Sarandon, with Dean Norris, and Sam Waterston, and Oprah Winfrey. Based on the article by Kevin M. Hymel, the film features an original song “The Journey” written by Diane Warren and performed by H.E.R., with choreography by Debbie Allen.

The Six Triple Eight also stars Ebony Obsidian, Milauna Jackson, Kylie Jefferson, Shanice Shantay, Sarah Jeffery, Pepi Sonuga, Moriah Brown, Jeanté Godlock, Jay Reeves, Jeffery Johnson, Baadja-Lyne Odums, Donna Biscoe, Gregg Sulkin, Scott Daniel Johnson, Susan Sarandon, with Dean Norris, and Sam Waterston, and Oprah Winfrey. You can catch the film in select UK and Irish cinemas on 6th December. The film will also be premiering globally on Netflix on 20th December.
