The Resurrection Of The Christ To Be Split In Two In 2027

Lionsgate has released the first look at Mel Gibson’s The Resurrection of the Christ. It’s the follow-up to Gibson’s enormously successful and hugely controversialย The Passion of the Christ, which traced the final moments of Jesus Christ (Jim Caviezel) as he approached and underwent the crucifixion.

The Passion of the Christ is one of the most successful independent films of all time, having taken $370 million domestically and an additional $610 million globally against a $30 million production budget.

The studio has confirmed that the film will be released in two parts, both due in 2027. Part One will arrive on Good Friday (March 26, 2027) and Part Two will be released on Ascension Day (May 6, 2027).

The Passion of the Christ stars Jim Caviezelย asย Jesus of Nazareth,ย Maia Morgensternย as theย Blessed Virgin Mary, andย Monica Bellucciย asย Mary Magdalene. It depicts theย Passion of Jesusย largely according to the gospels ofย Matthew,ย Mark,ย Luke, andย John.
