No one needs to describe the popularity of Downton Abbey television series was not just here in the UK, but also around the world. After the success of 2019 film, next March Downton Abbey: A New Era will be released and today Universal Pictures release the first UK Trailer.
After the events of the first film, the Crawley’s head to the South Of France for a holiday. The will be soon back at the Abbey as they must be prepared for a Royal Visit.
This trailer just seems to want to test the waters, do Downton Abbey fans really need tested after 6 seasons and a feature film? Off course not. The trailer doesn’t give away much however it does suggest the trip to France may focus on Violet Crawley’s past (Maggie Smith).
It seems the ‘short synopsis’ we have been posting for this film is actually the proper synopsis. The sequel will take place not long after the events of the first film. When a Royal Visit to the Crawley family and Downton staff from the King and Queen of England and ended with a ball fitting for the Royal Family.
The cast includes a lot of familiar faces Hugh Bonneville, Jim Carter, Brendan Coyle, Kevin Doyle, Joanne Froggatt, Robert James-Collier, Phyllis Logan, Elizabeth McGovern, Sophie McShera, Maggie Smith, David Haig, Imelda Staunton, Penelope Wilton, and Lesley Nicol. Keeping up with the ‘New Era’ part of this film there will be a number of new faces and they are Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye and Dominic West. Simon Curtis (Goodbye Christopher Robins) directs.
