The History Of Sound Gets An Intense UK Trailer
Universal Pictures have released the intense UK Trailer for Oliver Hermanus’ romantic drama The History Of Sound starring Paul Mescal and Josh O’Connor.
The film premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival as well as several other festivals including London. Despite the film following similar themes to other films from the South African filmmaker, the reviews have been mixed.
We find ourselves during World War One America, Two young music students who share a love for Folk music. From that shared passion for all things music will change their lives forever.
Freda Cooper watched the film during last month’s BFI London Film Festival. Freda said “Visually, The History Of Sound is as beautiful as you would expect from Hermanus, yet he seems just as much bound by convention. The love that changed both their lives has been muted. The same, unfortunately, happens to the film“.
The film also stars Chris Cooper, Molly Price, Alison Bartlett, Hadley Robinson, and Raphael Sbarge.

Synopsis: In 1917, Lionel—a young, talented music student—meets David at the Boston Conservatory, where they bond over a deep love of folk music. Years later, Lionel receives a letter from David, leading to an impromptu journey through the backwoods of Maine to collect traditional songs.This unexpected reunion, ensuing love affair, and the music they collect and preserve, will shape the course of Lionel’s life far beyond his own awareness.
