The Dark Tower First UK Trailer One Will Protect It Another Will Destroy It

It’s been a long time coming but 40 years after the first book was published Sony Pictures has finally revealed the First UK Trailer for The Dark Tower.

Stephen King‘s fantasy epic will finally grace our cinema screens later in the summer as one man sworn to protect it The Gunslinger another sworn to destroy it, the man in black. The battle of good versus evil is finally happening, but the burning question is, does the first look worth the wait? Oh Yes!

The tone of the trailer does suggest this will be a dark, broody as the dark sorcerer searches as he searches for the elusive tower. Two worlds are about to be destroyed and The man in black knows that ‘You can’t stop what’s coming, death always wins,’. Don’t despair in this world of superheroes we have the Gunslinger.

There are other worlds than these. Stephen King’s The Dark Tower, the ambitious and expansive story from one of the world’s most celebrated authors, makes its launch to the big screen. The last Knight Warrior, Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), has been locked in an eternal battle with Walter O’Dim, also known as the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey), determined to prevent him from toppling the Dark Tower, which holds the universe together. With the fate of the worlds at stake, good and evil will collide in the ultimate battle as only Roland can defend the Tower from the Man in Black.

The evidence is finally here after several failed attempts to bring the popular novel to the big screen (JJ Abrams and Ron Howard), Danish Filmmaker Nikolaj Arcel (A Royal Affair) step forwarded. From someone who hasn’t read the books, I’m very curious to see more and this trailer does well to tickle those curiosities. There is plenty of nods and homages to the books but fans of the books will probably notice things missing. However this apparently only the start of 4 books so there’s plenty of time to include anything missing.

You may think The likes of Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Harry Potter are the only franchise that can boast expansive worlds? The Dark Tower may not be as large as those mentioned franchise, this is a Stephen King book and this has a nice little Easter Egg. King’s classic horror iT will be out in September and there is a ‘easter egg’ in this trailer, did you spot it?

The Dark Tower is set for an 18th August UK&Irish release date. Co-starring Jake Chambers, Abbey Lee, Fran Kranz, Jackie Earle Haley, Katheryn Winnick and Claudia Kiim.
