The Dardenne Brothers Produced Red Soil Gets A UK Trailer

Cover ups and corruption rots the core of the powers to be you could think your talking about the UK government, we’re not. It’s describing the upcoming Dardenne brothers produced thriller Red Soil. Today Signature Entertainment have released the UK Trailer for Red Soil, a timely drama thriller as a young nurse unearths corruption at her father’s plant.

The film was to originally make it’s world premiere at last year’s Cannes Film Festival. Now a year on the brothers who brought the likes of The Kid With A Bike, and Two Days, One Night produce Farid Bentoumi feature. The social drama theme does continue here in Peter Versus Goliath situation.

Zita Hanrot stars as a young nurse employed at the chemical plant her father works (Sami Bouajila). She soon discovers not all is well at the plant that waste dumping has taken place involving the plant and local government. Does she become a whistleblower to help the rising number of cancer cases or simply hide the truth for the sake of her father?

There’s a Dark Waters even Erin Brockovich vibe going on. Sadly these corruptions are becoming far too regular in the name of greed. This looks an interesting film, check out the trailer below…

Red Soil is a timely and edge-of-your-seat thriller. This Dardenne brothers-produced thriller, directed by Farid Bentoumi, is reminiscent of Erin Brockovich or Dark Waters, and stars Zita Hanrot (The Hookup Plan), Olivier Gourmet (The Kid with a Bike) and Céline Sallette (The Returned). Nour (Hanrot), a young nurse, finds a job running the infirmary at the chemical plant where her dad (Sami Bouajila) has been labouring for 30 years. She soon discovers a vast cover-up involving toxic waste dumping, cancer victims and a corrupt local government. Now the young woman will have to choose between hiding the truth for her father’s sake or becoming a whistleblower and speak out against corporate greed to uncover the local pollution scandal.

Signature Entertainment will release Red Soil on Digital Platforms from 16th August in the UK and Ireland.
