The Apocalypse Will Be ‘Blood-soaked’ With Wyrmwood: Apocalypse

G’Day, do you think the Americans are the only ones who can deliver an zombie apocalypse? Think again. Ahead of it’s UK Premiere at next month’s FrightFest Glasgow, 101 Films announce Wyrmwood: Apocalypse UK Home Entertainment release, and it’s going to be a ‘blood-soaked’ one!

The highly anticipated sequel to cult-classic Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead, once again comes from Australian brothers Kiah and Tristan Roache-Turner. This May (exact date still to be announced) 101 Films will release the film on Blu-ray and Digital format.

Luke McKenzie, Shantae Barnes-Cowan, Nicholas Boshier, Bianca Bradey and Jay Gallagher all star in this one. Once again adapting to the 1970’s Ozploitation style, finds our heroes on the trailer of an survivor who may just have the cure from military experimentation.

In a zombie infested Australian wasteland, hard-edged soldier Rhys (Luke McKenzie – Jack Irish) – who uses zombies as fuel for his barbie – dedicates his days to tracking down and capturing survivors of the Zombie apocalypse for the Surgeon (Nicholas Boshier – The Moth Effect) in hope of finding a cure for the zombie plague. But all is not as it seems, and Rhys’ moralistic misadventures are much more macabre than he knows…

After a wild and twisted sequence of events, Rhys joins forces with Maxi (Shantae Barnes-Cowan – Total Control) with brother and sister-duo Brooke (Bianca Brady – Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead) and Barry (Jay Gallagher – Nekrotronic) in a race against the clock to save the one person who could be the key to ending the apocalypse…

This playfully deranged zombie-action thrill-ride will leave audiences with little time to catch their breath, but plenty of time to savour the spectacle.

Wyrmwood: Apocalypse will be released on Blu-ray and Digital platforms in the UK and Ireland from May. Before then the film will make it’s UK premiere at Arrow Video FrighFest on 11th March [More info/book tickets].
