Texas Chain Saw Massacre Reboot Officially In Development

In a recent report from Deadline (via ComingSoon), The Texas Chain Saw Massacre franchise is looking to return in the form of a reboot. Reports also hint that Glen Powell (Twisters) is being eyed up to star in this upcoming movie.
Verve, the agency that handles the rights to the franchise, has supposedly been contacted by various studios and filmmakers regarding the possibility of a reboot. One of those interested parties is Strange Darling director JT Mollner, who has voiced his interest in having Powell read the script if he were to helm the newest installment.
Studios such as A24, Lionsgate, and Neon, among others, have thrown their hats into the ring if the Mollner/Powell pairing were to come to fruition. A combination such as this could prove fruitful for both the studio and the long-running series, reigniting passion for it within the horror community.
Despite its iconic status, the franchise, which started in 1974, has only had nine movies to its name. The last entry, directed by David Blue Garcia, was released on Netflix in 2022 and was set 50 years after the original movie. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre gained very mixed reviews upon release, so hopefully a new reboot with a different studio and creative team should please fans of the series once again.
