We’ve known for a while there was going to be a new buyer for The Terminator Franchise and more recently that Sony and Lionsgate where the interested parties for the ailing franchise. Well the auction has happened its now closed and we have an new owner……Pacificor

Pacificor are a Californian based liquidation funds company and now won the rights of the franchise including the TV rights but have let Halcyon keep streaming rights of Terminator Salvation & Terminator 3 . Its a bit ofย  a weird dealย  with Pacificor getting the rights with Halcyon’s debts been cleared as part of agreement ( Pacificor who actually put Halcyon in bankruptcy in the first place!) and of course the courts agreeing to what has happened. Letting this happen gives Halcyon $5million for every Terminator made from now on but as Halcyon was up for extortion, bribery, fraud charges you can ask how does this leave Pacificor? Could this get them into bother? can they really afford it in the long run? Good chance that we may see another new owner?

It make you wonder why Sony or Lionsgate never suceeded? Both submitted bids and also nearly submitted a combined bid but Pacificor won it for $29.5 million but you could wonder if an film is on the cards very soon and Pacificor will be looking for a studio very soon, Sony or Lionsgate???
