Takashi Miike’s First Love (Hatsukoi) Gets UK Trailer

If you want to talk about prolific filmmaking, Takashi Miike is right up there. With a 100 plus movies under his belt, there is no sign of him slowing down. This coming February, we will get his latest film First Love  (Hatsukoi), today Signature Entertainment reveal the UK Trailer.

This looks anarchic, fun noirish pulp story about a young boxer. He falls in love with a call girl who finds himself caught up in drug smuggling scheme.

Miike is a director who likes to live on the edge. Throwing the rulebook out the window and he’s delivered many insane movies. Ichi The Killer, Audition prove his daring risque style does work, 13 Assassins proves he can do it in the traditional way. This looks like a Tarantino-esque that slowly becomes a darkly humorous violent movie.

One night in Tokyo and Leo, a young boxer down on his luck meets his ‘first love’ Monica, a call girl and an addict but still an innocent. Selling her body to pay a debt.

Unwittingly caught up in a drug-smuggling scheme. Leo and Monica find themselves pursued throughout the night by a corrupt cop, a yakuza, his nemesis and a female assassin hired by the Chinese Triads.

Prepare for unadulterated mayhem and carnage and fall for FIRST LOVE.

The film stars Masataka Kubota, Sakurako Konishi, Becky Rabone, Nao Omori, and Shota Sometani.

First Love will get an limited UK Cinema release from 14th February 2020. The same day you can buy the film as an Digital Download with the DVD released 24th February.
