‘Supergirl’ Writer Ana Nogueira to Write Wonder Woman Reboot for DC Studios

Ana Nogueira set to direct wonder woman?

Supergirl writer Ana Nogueira is writing Wonder Woman reboot for DC Studios’ according to Deadline.

The writer is also attached to pen a live-action Teen Titans for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s rebooted DC Universe. DC Studios have not commented on this development news.

The news follows the success of Superman, which has soared to over $409 million globally after just two weekends. The film marks a rare recent success for the comic book genre, which has struggled to regain its pre-Covid momentum at the box office.

Gunn and Safran opted not to move forward with Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 3 when they took over leadership of DC in 2022. Jenkins previously shattered box office records for female directors with the original Wonder Woman (2017), which earned $412.8 million in North America and nearly $824 million worldwide. Sequel Wonder Woman 1984 (2020) did not see the same success however, as Covid meant that it had a simultaneous limited theatre and HBO Max release in the US. The film was poorly received by critics and struggled commercially, earning just $46.8 million in the US and $170 million globally.

DC Studios are continuing their development of the HBO series Paradise Lost, which is set in Wonder Woman’s home of Themyscira.

Nogueira is best known for her acting roles on The Michael J. Fox Show, Hightown and The Vampire Diaries.

Supergirl is based on Tom King’s graphic novel, ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’, and is being directed by Craig Gillespie. It stars Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) in the lead role.

Supergirl releases in theatres on June 26, 2026.
