Second Contraband Trailer Starring Mark Whalberg and Kate Beckinsale

Contrabandcrop

Last month we watched the first trailer for Contraband full action giving us a good sense of the tone of the film and in the past few minutes the second  UK trailer has arrived and its a little more refined. In the new trailer we see more action driven compared to the first trailer which was more dialogue driven setting up the characters especially Mark Whalberg‘s character Chris Farraday, the new does possess new footage as well.

Contraband stars Mark Whalberg good guy criminal Chris Farraday  one time smuggler who is pulled back into the game when his younger brother in law (Caleb Landry Jones) mucks up a drug job a job which see chris along with his family battling for their lives. For the past few years Whalberg’s reputation as a actor has certainly grown in stature and he cemented that in The Fighter however he has proven himself as criminal  hard man character too (good and bad) in films like The Departed so this maybe not an award winning film but at least it looks a interesting fun film to check out, why? Apart from what we’ve seen in the trailers cinephiles looking for the action/thrillers type films look like they’ll get their fix but also director Baltasar Kormákur  also directed the original film Reykjavik -Rotterdam though it never made the list it was Iceland’s entry to be considered for the 2008 best foreign language film so even to be considered for that list shows the film must have some some quality.

Contraband wont be out in UK&Ireland for a long time, March 16th 2012! However American cinephiles can catch the movie on January 13th, 2012, movie also stars Kate Beckinsale, Giovanni Ribisi, Ben Foster,Diego Luna, J.K. Simmons, Lukas Haas.

Video: MSN Exclusive – Contraband – trailer

Mark Wahlberg leads the cast of Contraband, a fast-paced thriller about a man trying to stay out of a world he worked so hard to leave behind and the family he’ll do anything to protect. Set in New Orleans, the film explores the cutthroat underground world of international smuggling — full of desperate criminals and corrupt officials, high-stakes and big payoffs — where loyalty rarely exists and death is one wrong turn away. Chris Farraday (Wahlberg) long ago abandoned his life of crime, but after his brother-in-law, Andy (Caleb Landry Jones), botches a drug deal for his ruthless boss, Tim Briggs (Giovanni Ribisi), Chris is forced back into doing what he does best — running contraband — to settle Andy’s debt. Chris is a legendary smuggler and quickly assembles a crew with the help of his best friend, Sebastian (Ben Foster), for one final run to Panama and back, hoping to return with millions in counterfeit bills. Things quickly fall apart and with only hours to reach the cash, Chris must use his rusty skills to successfully navigate a treacherous criminal network of brutal drug lords, cops and hit men before his wife, Kate (Kate Beckinsale), and sons become their target.
