Scary Movie’s Anna Faris Teases House Bunny Sequel

The cult hit comedy could be revamped in a sequel...

Anna Faris in The House Bunny

Ahead of Scary Movie 6’s release, comedy star Anna Faris has teased a possible follow-up to another of her iconic, early 2000s comedies, The House Bunny.

This was the 2008ย Fred Wolfย comedy, which saw Faris star as former Playboy House bunny Shelley Darlingson, who must find a new home and lifestyle after she is forced to leave Hugh Hefner’s mansion. She signs up to become the new house mother for an unpopular sorority at a California college, yet finds herself at odds with the socially awkward and ‘unglamorous’ house members.

Karen McCullah Lutzย andย Kirsten Smith wrote the film,ย and additionally stars Oscar Winner Emma Stone, Colin Hanks, Kat Dennings, Katherine McPhee, Rumer Willis, Tyson Ritter, Kiely Williams, Christopher McDonald and Beverly Dโ€™Angelo.ย

Grossing $70.4 million from a $25 million budget and mixed reviews, loving Faris’ performances yet criticising the formulaic writing, The House Bunnyย may be on the receiving end of an update almost two decades after its release, with its star stating, “I would love to talk to you aboutย House Bunny stuff“, in a recent interview as “it turns out, thereโ€™s interest.”

I never thought that dream would ever be realised either, and itโ€™s too soon to say anything,” the actress explained. “But it turns out that movie is beloved, and that character too.โ€

Meanwhile, Faris has recently reprised her beloved role as Cindy in Scary Movie, the follow-up to 2013’s Scary Movie 5 and the sixth installment in the Scary Movie franchise. The films are spoofs of the most popular horror movies released in the previous years, such as slashers, supernatural films, found footage projects and the occasional pop culture references.

Scary Movie 6ย sees Faris reunite with previous co-stars Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, and Regina Hall.ย It is set to parody the revised Scream films, Netflix’s Wednesday, Get Out, Sinners, M3GAN, Nope, Longlegs and Smile, among a few.

Following a theme of comedy sequels after twenty years, The Wayans brothers confirmed they will follow up their 2004 divisive comedy, White Chicks, with a sequel if Scary Movieย is well received.

Scary Movieย is in cinemas now.ย
