Saoirse Ronan ‘Has A Life’ In The Outrun UK Trailer
Addiction can take us to some truly dark places. In The Outrun, Saoirse Ronan is that dark place and she has life she wants back in the first UK Trailer.
Studiocanalย are releasing this one which is based on Amy Liptrot‘s book of the same name. German filmmaker Nora Fingscheidt (System Crasher) in her follow up to her 2021 film The Unforgivable starring Sandra Bullock.
Ronan plays our leading lady in The Outrun, about a young woman returning home to Orkney. Living a decade in addiction in London, hoping the isolation and beauty will help her recovery.

In this adaptation of the best-selling, prize-winning memoir by Amy Liptrot, Saoirse Ronan stars as Rona, a young woman who returns to her remote home in the Orkney Islands after losing herself in London. Following Rona as she reconnects with her past, her parents and the atmospheric isolation of the islands on which she grew up, this is a raw but lyrical and uplifting story of recovery and redemption. Directed by Nora Fingscheidt.
After a decade away in London, 29-year-old Rona (Saoirse Ronan) returns home to the Orkney Islands. Sober but lonely, she tries to suppress her memory of the events which set her on this journey of recovery. Slowly the beauty and lore of the land enters her inner world and โ one day at a time โ Rona finds hope and strength in herself among the heavy gales and the bracingly cold sea.
The film also stars Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Stephen Dillane, Lauren Lyle, Izuka Hoyle, and Paapa Essiedu. The Outrun will be released by Studiocanal in the UK and Ireland from 27th September. On 15th August, the film will make it’s UK Premiere when it’s opens Edinburgh Film Festival.
