Rose Byrne battles to get a beloved car back in TOW trailer
Stepping straight off from her Oscar-nominated performance in If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, actor Rose Byrne appears as a down-on-her-luck, unhoused mother fighting tooth and nail to get her life back on track in a new trailer for the upcoming film TOW.
Working alongside an additional cast of Dominic Sessa, Demi Lovato, Simon Rex, Elsie Fisher, Corbin Bernsen, Ariana DeBose and Octavia Spencer, Byrne’s character Amanda is “a woman living in her ageing Toyota Camry on the streets of Seattle. When her car — her only lifeline — is stolen and impounded, Amanda is thrust into a relentless legal battle against an indifferent system. What begins as a fight to reclaim her car evolves into a deeply human story of resilience, dignity, and the power of one woman’s voice in the face of systemic failure.”
The film is based on a true story, directed by Stephanie Laing, the filmmaker behind Netflix’s Irreplaceable You and some episodes in the TV series Mixed-ish and Your Friends and Neighbors. Jonathan Keasey and Brant Boivin are credited as writing the real-life story for the screen.
“By putting Amanda’s voice on screen, we wanted to remind people that justice thrives in the lives of people and communities who refuse to be erased by a process that depends on their silence, a message that feels more resonant every day,” director Laing has explained.
“Rose Byrne was the perfect actor to embody Amanda and her fight due to Rose’s combination of vulnerability, intelligence, and defiance, which she manages to wrap in humour and heart,” she adds. “Rose’s performance is grounded in Amanda’s truth, so the audience doesn’t just witness a battle against a corrupt system; they feel the cost of it.”

The trailer showcases the never ending trials and tribulations Amanda battles through, including failed job interviews and, most importantly, her treasured car being taken from her.
Tow will be released on 20th March in the U.S. There is no word yet who and when the film will get a UK release.
