Do you believe in reincarnation? In Alice Lowe‘s time jumping indie rom com Timestalker, romance is dead, watch UK Trailer.
Ahead of it’s cinema release next month, Vertigo Releasing give us a glimpse at Alice Rowe‘s follow up to Prevenge. Her directorial feature debut Prevenge which she also starred in like a sophomore film.
Next to Lowe, the film also stars Aneurin Barnard, Tanya Reynolds, Jacob Anderson, Kate Dickie, and Nick Frost.Â
We do love those films that try a different approach to rom coms. Throw in a romance set over several time periods with Agnes (Lowe) who finds herself picking the wrong guy in love. Only to die a horrible death and get reincarnated a 100 years later to meet him again, again and again!
You can see the film has riffs from everything from Barry Lyndon, Working Girl, Monty Python even Dario Argento. Lowe’s previous film she made whilst pregnant plugging into the fears of motherhood. We’re all suckers for love and making those mistakes meant to help us be better, but reality never. This looks smart and one to watch.
Timestalker follows hapless heroine Agnes (Alice Lowe) through time as she repeatedly falls for the wrong guy, dies a grim death, gets reincarnated a century later, before meeting him again and starting the cycle anew.
Agnes’ only hope in avoiding this violent fate is by finally reaching spiritual enlightenment; but how can she ever wise up when she’s destined to be a fool for love? Some lessons are just too hard to learn in one lifetime.
Timestalker is written and directed by Alice Lowe, who also stars in the film alongside Jacob Anderson, Aneurin Barnard, Tanya Reynolds and Nick Frost.
Vertigo Releasing will release Timestalker in UK and Irish cinemas from 11th October.
