Rebel Wilson Set To Host This Year’s EE British Academy Film Awards

Australian actress Rebel Wilson is set to host the 75th EE British Academy Film Awards which will take place in March, BAFTA announced today.

The awards are set to take place on Sunday 13th March, returning to Londonโ€™s iconic Royal Albert Hall.

โ€œI am very honoured to be hosting the EE British Academy Film Awards in March, where Covid will no longer exist because it will clearly have been cancelled by thenโ€ said Wilson

โ€œIt’s going to be so much fun! I don’t wanna put any pressure on this – I know I’m not going to be funny because I am no longer fat. And besides, I’m not going to ‘sweat-it’ with nerves because I have a peculiar medical condition where I can’t sweat…or cause offense to people because of my adorable Australian accentโ€.

โ€œSo basically I’ll just be there to hang out with Dame Judi Dench and together we’ll both try and bond with Daniel Craig. And yes, I do mean โ€˜bondโ€™. This show will be an anniversary celebration of some important British film franchises such as HARRY POTTER and not such as CATS. Everybody’s going to love it, I’m sure! See you guys in March!โ€

Last year’s ceremony was hosted Edith Bowman and Dermot Oโ€™Leary. In what was presented virtually with any awards guest confirming winners socially distanced. BAFTA will be hopping Wilson can bring some much needed humour to this year’s ceremony.

Wilson will be known for many comedic roles, such as Bridesmaids, Jojo Rabbit however her role as Fat Amy her most known in the Pitch Perfect Trilogy. The past couple of years she has made the headlines losing 66lbs (just over 5 stone) and adopting an healthier lifestyle.

Amanda Berry OBE, Chief Executive of BAFTA said: โ€œWe are delighted to welcome Rebel Wilson as this year’s host of the EE British Academy Film Awards. Rebel has stolen the show at several previous Film Awards, and weโ€™re hugely excited to see her bring her fantastic charisma and humour to the whole show as we celebrate the very best in film.

We would also like to thank Edith Bowman and Dermot Oโ€™Leary who did a truly wonderful job hosting last yearโ€™s ceremony in exceptionally challenging circumstances and we look forward to working with them again in the future.โ€

As previously announced, nominations for the EE British Academy Film Awards will be revealed on 3rd February, following the EE Rising Star nominations on 1st February.

The 75th EE British Academy Film Awards will take place on Sunday 13th March with the ceremony broadcast on BBC One, BBC One HD and BBC iPlayer.
