Well boys and girls and cinephiles of all ages, stick those teasers of teaser trailers where the sun don’t shine as the full Django Unchained trailer has now arrived! If your worried that this film won’t tick the essential boxes for a Quentin Tarantino film you can sleep easily and start the countdown to Christmas day or January depending what part of the world you live. Quirky dialogue, cult music. Jamie Foxx leads the cast as Django, a slave who is liberated by a German bounty hunter played by Christoph Waltz. Django wants to re-unite with his (Kerry Washington) wife and is promised if he helps the bounty hunter track down a family of outlaws he will be free dead or alive.
It took me a while to really appreciate his talent but it looks like Leonardo Di Caprio is quintessentially Django Unchained. He may not be Django himself but he’s the sadistic plantation owner Calvin Candie he looks like he’s had the most fun for a very longtime and what Tarantino fans will just love is Christoph Waltz in a Tarantino film again! We mustn’t forget our titular hero Django, Jamie Foxx does look like who provide a strong commanding performance, very charismatic but again Di Caprio may just steal the show here. Unfortunately we never made it to south of France to Cannes as the footage shown there makes up part of this trailer but not many people make it to Cannes so this will be new to us all. Don’t expect politically correct slavery ala Roots but exaggerated over the top mixture of wit, humor, western and slavery delivered the only way Tarantino can delvier!
DJANGO UNCHAINED will be released in UK&Ireland 18th January 2013 or December 25th if you live in USA. Great cast: Leonardo Di Caprio, Samuel L Jackson, Gerald McRaney, RZA, Dennis Christopher, Laura Cayouette, Laura Cayouette, Tom Savini, M.C. Gainey, Misty Upham, and Don Johnson!
Set in the South two years before the Civil War, DJANGO UNCHAINED stars Academy Award®-winner Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Academy Award®-winner Christoph Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. The unorthodox Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles – dead or alive.
Success leads Schultz to free Django, though the two men choose not to go their separate ways. Instead, Schultz seeks out the South’s most wanted criminals with Django by his side. Honing vital hunting skills, Django remains focused on one goal: finding and rescuing Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), the wife he lost to the slave trade long ago.
Django and Schultz’s search ultimately leads them to Calvin Candie (Academy Award®-nominee Leonardo DiCaprio), the proprietor of “Candyland,” an infamous plantation where slaves are groomed by trainer Ace Woody (Kurt Russell) to battle each other for sport. Exploring the compound under false pretenses, Django and Schultz arouse the suspicion of Stephen (Academy Award®-nominee Samuel L. Jackson), Candie’s trusted house slave. Their moves are marked, and a treacherous organization closes in on them. If Django and Schultz are to escape with Broomhilda, they must choose between independence and solidarity, between sacrifice and survival…
Written and directed by Academy Award®-winner Quentin Tarantino, DJANGO UNCHAINED is produced by Stacey Sher, Pilar Savone and Reginald Hudlin. The executive producers are Harvey and Bob Weinstein, Michael Shamberg, Shannon McIntosh, and James Skotchdopole. DJANGO UNCHAINED will be released in the U.S. on December 25, 2012, and internationally by Sony Pictures Releasing International.
