It’s in adaptation limbo for more than 15 years now switching between the small and big screen but now it seems The Preacher is now finally going to make its screen debut, but does it have Seth Rogen involved?

Bad Digest are reporting the comic book created by Gareth Ennis and Steve Dillon that the channel that gave the world The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad has commissioned with Rogen onboard as a producer. The comedic actor even dropped a few hints on his twitter account….

โ€œLooks like about seven of years of hard work are about to pay off. I may get to bring one of my favourite stories ever to life,โ€

he also later tweeted –

If your a fan of the Vertigo Comics you’ll know 2 of those characters will be familiar to you and if your looking for a dark twisted series you can go no wrong with The Preacher. The storyline is based around Jesse Custer a young Texan preacher who loves John Wayne flicks but he becomes possessed by a demon called Genesis (offspring of an Angel and Demon) most of all he wants to kill god. On his debauched journey he’s joined by his ex-girlfriend assassin Tulip and vampire Cassidy looking to find out why God has deserted his ‘flock’. On the way they cross paths with other saints, serial killers, other weirdos and it’s Jesse’s method of getting rid of these baddies is probably why Preacher has been in limbo land for sometime.

AMC has a great track record of delivering hit tv shows which gives us some hope but at the same time we’re still  little cynical too after years of false starts. The TV channel also will be perfect to keep faithful to Ennis original comic books. When you look back the source is long like The Walking Dead with TV probably the best option for it a story to be told over a number of tv episodes rather than a 2 hour film.

The project has switched between cinema and TV  with Ennis himself scripting and Kevin Smith directing, even Sam Mendes, Darren Aronofsky,  Joe Carnahan all rumoured to be involved at one stage.Chris Pine, Shia LaBeouf and Alex Pettyfer  all been mentioned for Jesse, most recent rumour was in the summer with DJ Caruso directing with James Marsden in lead role.

HBO are the last TV Channel to have commissioned a pilot for a TV version, so will we eventually see The Preacher on our small screens? We live in hope!
