LOCKE_UK_QUADTo celebrate the release of LOCKE, which features only Tom Hardy onscreen for its entire 85 minute running time, Picturehouse Cinemas are running a competition to create an 85 second short featuring just one character!

LOCKE opens on 18 April, and to celebrate Picturehouse Cinemas have teamed up with Lionsgate UK to offer you an exclusive chance to meet Oscar-nominated writer and director Steven Knight, at a private screening of his new film LOCKE starring Tom Hardy.

To enter this competition you need to submit an original 85-second film made by you, consisting of a single scene featuring a single character delivering a monologue onscreen. It can be about anything, but must have a narrative. For example, in LOCKE, Tom Hardy’s character receives a phone call that sets in motion a series of events that will unravel his family, job and soul. Additional characters can be included as voices off-screen.  Judges will be looking for original films that tell a complete story within the running time.

Just email a YouTube link to your film to competitions@picturehouses.co.uk with LOCKE in the subject line.

You must also label the film ‘LOCKE 85 Second Challenge’ followed by the title of your film. Please include your name, address and contact number in your email.

The competition closes on Friday 4 April at 6.00pm. The winners will be selected and notified within one week of closing.

Please note that submissions must not contain any defamatory material, and must not infringe on the rights of any third parties. Any submissions which are not an original work and which could be considered offensive shall not be considered.

Prize

Five winners will be selected at the sole discretion of Picturehouse Cinemas and Lionsgate.

Each winner and up to four friends will be offered seats at the winners’ screening in central London on Thursday 17 April.

Steven Knight will be in attendance to introduce the film, greet the winners and meet for drinks at the venue before the screening.

The five winning filmmakers will also receive a signed LOCKE poster and a bundle of Lionsgate DVDs and Blu-rays, chosen by Lionsgate.

LOCKE will be released in cinemas across the UK from April 18, 2014
