Some call him ‘Michael Bay’s Doppelganger‘ but one thing Peter Berg might achieve Bay might not, is win a Oscar in a major category with Deepwater Horizon. When your film has a true life event as the basis of the film your playing your cards right with the Academy they love heroes. Until we get to awards season underway the focus will be on  the heroic upcoming film and today a new poster has been ‘rigged up’ . The new explosive poster showcases the elusive oil rig that was the source of the Delta River disaster on fire….
On April 20th, 2010, the world’s largest man-made disaster occurred on the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico. Directed by Peter Berg, this story honours the brave men and women whose heroism would save many on board, and change everyone’s lives forever.
The last set of posters where all focused on the heroes of the film (check out those posters here along with latest trailer), now it’s oil rig. The Michael Bay tag I think is a little harsh, because like Bay  he’s very proud of the stars and stripes .Battleship was been regarded as his Transformers but take that movie to one side film’s like Lone Survivor and even his TV roots with Friday Night Lights shows Peter Berg has dramatic chops in his blood. He’s certainly proud and his next film (check out the first poster here) Patriots Day the heroes of Boston Marathon bombing of 2013 he gives them a voice.
Deepwater Horizon arrives in UK in 29 th September 2016 (same date for USA too). The film stars Mark Wahlberg, Kurt Russell, John Malkovich, Gina Rodriguez, Dylan O’Brien and Kate Hudson.
