Ozark’s Julia Garner Set To Play Madonna In New Biopic?

When it comes to biopics, the individuals under the radar don’t usually write and direct their own story. However this is Madonna‘s story the queen of pop and she can do what she wants. Those who direct their own films, the outcome isn’t always positive. This doesn’t bother Madonna, and she’s already picked the actress to play her, Julia Garner.

According to Variety, The Ozarks star has been the frontrunner for several months. The report states that Florence Pugh, Alexa Demie (Euphoria) , Emma Laird, Odessa Young along  with singers Bebe Rexha and Sky Ferreira have all been considered. The audition process apparently has been exhausting with each candidate to show off their singing and dance skills.

The Madonna biopic has been around for a long time, the current version taking it’s first steps back in 2020. Madonna herself releasing a statement which said “I want to convey the incredible journey that life has taken me on as an artist, a musician, a dancer – a human being, trying to make her way in this world … There are so many untold and inspiring stories and who better to tell it than me. It’s essential to share the rollercoaster ride of my life with my voice and vision.”

From what we know is the film will follow the queen of pop from her early days. To become the megastar and style icon as we know her from today. Amazingly 355 million records sold worldwide, no wonder she is considered the best selling female artist of all time.

This will mark her third directorial feature with Filth And Wisdom (2008) and W. E (2012) both films that weren’t well received by critics and film fans. Universal Pictures will be releasing this  with Amy Pascal producing  with Diablo Cody co-writing the script with Madonna herself.

There is no word on who else will be in this Biopic.
