If your like me you where brought up on The Muppets there would have been some point in your childhood you would have tuned in especially on school holidays to Sesame Street on Channel 4. Sesame Street was part of Jim Henson’s world but for the slighlty younger ones, with more educational things than slapstick humour of The Muppets the characters where just as colourful Count Dracula, Big Bird, Bert & Ernie (Are they? Arent they gay?), cookie monster and the subject of this trailer Elmo. Since this years Sundance Festival Being Elmo: A Puppeteer’s Journey has been the documentary that’s been getting the critics over excited walking away with award after award and now its come to the end of its festival run,the documentary’s trailer is upon us.
The movie chronicles the story of Kevin Clash whose long life dream of becoming a puppeteer and the linchpin behind one of the most popular characters in children’s television history Elmo. This little red character is popular world wide and this film shows the passion, blood sweat and tears Clash has taken to achieve the dream and when you see the joy and happiness Elmo has brought to children it might tug on your emotional strings when you watch this delightful doc.
The movie is about to have a limited release around USA from October 21st , no word on a release in UK or Ireland but the buzz this movie has created Stateside should see the doc heading over the Atlantic but when we don’t know yet.
