No One Can Hear Mélanie Laurent Scream In Oxygen Trailer

French genre filmmaker Alexandre Aja knows how to make people feel trapped. His last terror was Crawl leaving father and daughter trapped in a flooded home. In his latest survival sci-fi thriller Oxygen, Netflix tease us with the first trailer and no one can hear Mélanie Laurent scream!

The plot for this one is straightforward Laurent a woman who wakes up in a cryogenic unit. No memory of how she got there, or even who she maybe. She must solve the mystery of who she is before she runs out of air.

Whilst Ryan Reynolds Buried or even Cube will come to mind, this does have a slice of Stephen King‘s Gerald’s Game (also a Netflix film) too. A woman trapped, life-threatening scenario, time against her and must try use her wit to escape.

It’s only a teaser that lasts just over a minute, it does do enough to entice to see more of this. There is hints of sci-fi could suggest the time period might be in the future. It’s tense stuff here and we do enjoy an existential mindbender!

Oxygen is a French survival thriller directed by Alexandre Aja. The film tells the story of a young woman (Mélanie Laurent, 6 Underground, Inglourious Basterds), who wakes up in a cryogenic pod. She doesn’t remember who she is or how she ended up there. As she’s running out of oxygen, she must rebuild her memory to find a way out of her nightmare

The cast also includes Mathieu Amalric, Marc Saez, and Malik Zidi.

Netflix are stating Oxygen will be released on 12th May, however for the UK and Ireland it says ‘Coming Soon’.
