Daredevil Born Again Season 2 Charlie Cox

Don’t expect to see Daredevil teaming up with the Avengers anytime soon. Charlie Cox set the record straight on Daredevil’s return during a recent panel at MCM Birmingham Comic Con.

According to CBM, when asked by an attendee whether he was joining the cast of Avengers: Secret Wars (since production is expected to begin soon), Cox responded with, “No, I’m not going to be in it, no.” He then added, rather humorously, “And you should believe me now. I’m not a liar.”

The latter comment was referring to Daredevil not appearing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which has now been in cinemas for two weeks. Many fans had hoped Cox would return after making his MCU debut in Spider-Man: No Way Homeโ€”and because of his character’s connection to Jon Bernthal‘s Punisher, who was in the latest Marvel film. (In case you aren’t caught up on Marvel’s television shows, Daredevil and Punisher faced each other in season two of the original Netflix series and in the first season of Born Again.)

But since Daredevil didn’t end up making an appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, no longer having to answer questions about potentially showing up in the movie seemed like a major relief to Cox.

“I’m so glad I don’t have to answer that question anymore. Ugh. It’s awful because I knew I wasn’t in it,” he told convention attendees. “The number of times people would be like, ‘Are you in Spider-Man?’ I just knew… they’d walk away with this big grin on their face, and that their hearts were gonna break.”

For now, it looks like he’ll be sticking to fighting his own battles in Hell’s Kitchen in Daredevil: Born Again. Season three has already wrapped filming and is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ next March.

Or maybe he will make an appearance in an Avengers movie, because this is the MCU we’re talking about, and every comment should be taken with a pinch of salt. Only time will tell.
